Case Study: Pull Up Hoops Minnesota
The first of its kind in the Twin Cities — one platform that replaces the tangle of apps most rental businesses juggle just to run day-to-day.
The Client
Pull Up Hoops MN is the Twin Cities' first, and premier, basketball arcade rental trailer — a genuinely one-of-a-kind experience built for every age and every kind of event.
Whether it's a birthday party, a corporate event, or just a casual get-together, Pull Up Hoops has you covered.
When Pull Up Hoops approached Simy Dev, the initial conversation was about a basic marketing website with a lead funnel. But once I understood their business model, I proposed something bigger: an all-in-one system to manage bookings, customers, contract signings, Stripe payments, and transactional email notifications.
That's when the excitement kicked in — what started as a small marketing site request turned into a custom, all-in-one software solution built specifically for their business.
The Challenge
Building an all-in-one software solution for Pull Up Hoops came with real challenges. The system needed to seamlessly tie together every one of those features — bookings, contracts, payments, and more — while staying simple and intuitive for my client to use day-to-day.
But like most great projects, the complexity was part of the appeal. I knew that as long as I stuck to a structured, waterfall development process, success was achievable — and that along the way, we'd learn, adapt, and deliver.
What Was Built (All-in-One Software Solution)
Before diving into the admin dashboard, my first priority was getting a marketing site live. That way, Pull Up Hoops could start generating leads and building interest while I developed the full software suite behind the scenes.
Alongside the marketing site, the software solution for Pull Up Hoops included:
- Privacy-first, cookie-less analytics: powered by Laye, an in-house tool I built for tracking site analytics without collecting or storing personal user data — think Google Analytics, without the privacy trade-offs.
- Automated contracting system: upon booking, customers get an email to review and electronically sign their contract — built entirely in-house, with no third-party vendors in the loop.
- AI-powered live chat: a custom chatbot built into the admin dashboard to help field day-to-day customer questions.
- Public gallery: image management backed by Cloudflare buckets for the marketing site.
- Stripe payment integration: handles bookings and transactions.
- Lead funnel: captures and organizes new inquiries.
- Customer management system: one place to track customers and their history.
- Transactional email system: running on ZeptoMail, with CRON jobs handling scheduled and triggered sends.
Timeline
With any Simy Dev client, a detailed timeline is crucial. It sets expectations for delivery and keeps everyone accountable.
-
Phase 1 (Planning): Initial discussions with the client to understand their requirements, define project scope, and build a detailed project plan.
-
Phase 2 (Design): Wireframes and mockups for the marketing site and the software solution, aligned with the client's vision and requirements.
-
Phase 3 (Development): Building the marketing site and the full software solution, implementing every planned feature, and making sure everything integrated cleanly.
-
Phase 4 (Testing & Deployment): A thorough testing phase to confirm the marketing site and software solution were working correctly. Following a strict waterfall process, every feature was rigorously tested in a staging environment before final deployment to production.
-
Phase 5 (Post-Launch Support): Because Pull Up Hoops chose the comprehensive all-in-one solution with a retainer, Simy Dev provides ongoing support — addressing issues, shipping updates, and keeping the system running daily.
Hosting & Security
For a solution this comprehensive, I wanted to make sure Pull Up Hoops never had to think about hosting or security. With the retainer, Simy Dev handles all of it — hosting, maintenance, and security — so the marketing site and software solution stay secure, up to date, and fully operational at all times.
The Result
After about a month and a half of dedicated work, the marketing site and full software solution for Pull Up Hoops went live. Now, from a single platform, the business manages bookings, contracts, customer interactions, payments, and more.
